Virginia Genealogy
While not everyone can claim that their ancestors established the first colonial American settlement of Jamestown Virginia, there are many people who can trace their heritage back to the state of Virginia. Whether you are one of these people or you're just plain interested in Virginia genealogy, you've come to the right place.

In June 2005, the Board for Certification of Genealogists (BCG) Education Fund announced that James W. Petty was being awarded the 2005 Donald Mosher Award for Virginia genealogy research. This announcement came as no surprise to the professional genealogical community since Petty, an accredited genealogist and a certified genealogist, has been researching seventeenth century Virginia subjects for many years.
The Mosher Award, which was created to help fund research on colonial Virginia families, will be applied to Petty's current project of extracting all records of head rights in early Virginia. He hopes to help descendants of the early settlers establish a date of arrival in Virginia. Read more about the Mosher Award and details of Petty's project.
Heirlines Family History and Genealogy
In addition to being an avid researcher of Virginia genealogy, Petty is also the cofounder of the (www.genealogy.edu) Heritage Genealogy College and president of Heirlines Family History and Genealogy. Heirlines is a professional genealogical research company that has been providing people with ancestor research services through professional genealogists for over thirty years.
