  • Related projects experience
  • APG membership
  • BCG and ICAPGen credentials
  • Literacy in a variety of languages and experience with many countries (Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Scandinavia, Spain, etc.)
  • Expert witness experience (in courtroom situations)
  • A degree in Genealogy Research, Political Science, History or related credentials
In addition to the qualifications listed above, Heirlines genealogists are also encouraged to teach classes and mentor emerging genealogists. Heirlines genealogy researchers also provide free genealogy consultations.

Heirlines genealogy researchers have provided family history research and analysis for over 30 years. Heirlines' founder, James W. Petty, has a BS in both genealogy research and history and has participated in or spearheaded thousands of genealogy research projects. Mr. Petty has also acted as an expert witness in various courtroom settings and has written articles in regards to a variety of genealogical topics.
